Perfect Design
Friday, January 2, 2009
In this second day of 2009, I believe we still hope for much better year than 2008. And I think I'm not exaggerate it to say we all want a 'perfect' year for this 2009.
Now thinking of 'perfect', what actually is the word mean? You could find many definition, explanation, and sample of what 'perfect' is in many dictionaries. This one is just one of them, dictionary.com.
But from what I experience through my whole life, one would never achieve this 'perfect' condition. As a designer, I could never achieve what I called 'perfect' design from my own standard. I always found flaws in it and since I'm a melancholy person, I always feel I have to redesign all over even for a tiny misplaced of dot or line. This happen also when I design the new look of Stories of Picture.
There always something that has to be refine whenever I see this site. You wouldn't believe how many times I re-configure the width of section to fit what I call perfect both in function and aesthetic. Not to mention the size of the font and even the place of separator line between each post.
So, what is 'perfect' for me? My own simple definition of 'perfect' is condition when you simply feel enough and nothing more you could do to make it better. This condition is very related with your ambition, goal, ego, characteristic, etc. At the end, 'perfect' for me is a feeling.
And all of God's creation is perfect for me, because it makes me feel warm, amazed, and feel like home. No other creation by human can achieve this 'perfect' condition as we always try to improve, improve, and improve. I'm not saying improvement is bad thing. When God created us as His own image, it's already in our nature to be just as much as Him by always improving ourselves.
How about you? What is 'perfect' for you? Let's start by seeing the image above... Is it perfect? The curve, the color, the light... It is perfect for me...
Have a 'perfect' 2009 year!
